1100D? Ouch!

Hello, I hate to spoil it for you but this body (none of the 1xxxD line) contains "high precision" AF point in the center. The xxxD and higher-class bodies do.

Canon uses more accurate AF sensor to focus fast (f/2.8 and wider) lenses with tighter tolerance.

The tolerance of the "high precision" is 1/3 of the tolerance for "normal precision" sensor, leaving less error margin for the lens where depth of field might be very thin. Normal precision sensors might be "in spec", and yet have difficulties to focus the fast lens on target.
