Is new always better?

I am putting this thread out, in response to a post elsewhere, when the poster stated "A new model is always better than the old one". I disagree with this statement, but did not wish to hi-jack the other thread. So, what do you think? Which things connected to photography, do you wish had been left as it was? Camera bodies, lenses, anything to do with photography. What, in your opinion, fits the category of "If it 'aint broke......" I haven't been shooting long enough to contribute [1 yr] but would love to hear your experiences of old v new.
