I pulled the trigger and got the RX100.
I have Amazon Prime so I'll get it on Tue before my Thurs. departure.

While the 24mm and more manual natural ease of use were reasons I wanted to stay Panny with the LX7, the 1inch sensor and the low light, high shutter speed performance, dynamic range, nice jpegs, and small body were too much to pass up.

I hope to come back when Panny makes a smaller bodied LX8 with a larger sensor.
Thank you everyone for your very informed and helpful opinions.
I'll let you all know what I think of the camera after I get back from Thailand.

you won't be sorry one bit with the rx100. extra bright lcd screen, no need for once a year evf, excellent jpg's, small for pocket or case, very sharp lens despite what some claim(hasn't been proven anywhere), more detail jpg's.
like any thing new it's just a little learning curve from oversized panny.

many in this forum are apparently upset sony upstaged the lx7 and many other manufacturers, which they were so counting on major improvements...kinda like apple people. time for the others to step up their game.

lx9 will be the next model 3-5-7-etc
have a great trip!
