Most offensive street photography?

What situations do you think would be almost guaranteed to get an angry or upset reaction from the subject? For example, walking up to a small child with its mother, and photographing the kid from 3' away (1m). Assume you have a 'normal' 50 mm equiv. lens.

Next, what's the best way to defuse the angry reaction? "Hi, I'm from National Geographic, and we're doing a story on YourTown?" Any ideas?
