Beautiful images. We live in nearby New Hampshire, doing a lot of hiking in our

White Mountains with similar scenes. I am looking for a smaller camera (have D4 and D700 with sigma and nikon lenses) to pack which can produce this kind of stuff. We frequently encounter the same darker environment. Many of the photos I typically take, however, involve people on the hike, which would not likely tolerate these slow shutter speeds. Have you found the images at slightly higher ISO to be satisfactory as you seem to have a very discriminating taste in images and an attraction to the same natural features that stimulate me?

Enjoy your hikes, I am eager to get back out this autumn!

Thanks hikerdoc. I don't like to go over 200 and noise can start creeping in at 400. If I had to deal with slight subject movement then I would try opening up the aperture more before raising ISO.
