Good for you - you should be happy with the Sigma 30mm.

I have and use both setups that have been freely discussed here - a fast prime (the Sigma 30mm on a 600D) and a zoom and bounce flash (15-85 (so slower than the 17-55) and 430 EX).

I generally leave the 30mm 1.4 on the camera, so that I can pick it up and quickly catch whatever is going on. If I have more time, I can shoot the zoom and bounce flash (or the 30mm and flash) for deeper DOF and light control. At narrower apertures, I find the IQ of the 30mm and the 15-85 similar.

I usuallly like both results.
