YES - I do have the rear cell UV filter in place (you're right, it does affect focus).

Even with that, I'm still just a hair too far back. (When I said 'a few millimeters, that was probably an overstatement. One or two would probably do it).

It's only noticeable at infinity (which is a big deal for me because I bought it to use as an astro-imaging lens!. It mounts on my larger telescope.

For astronomical imaging purposes, a large central obstruction is common. Many of the imaging scopes used in the major observatories have obstructions of 50%!

While this can cause loss of contrast and detail visually ...contrast issues in an image can be rectified in PP.

Surprisingly, though, this lens performs well for normal photography as well!
I'd tried the f/8 version and could not live with it as a daytime telephoto.
THIS one is a completely different animal...despite the math that says it should
not be as is vastly better!

Below is an image of my REAL telescope. I wanted the f/5 for wider-field imaging.
