This is a good point which is let down by one problem. If the design has this in mind then it would be nice if you could buy a replacement easily. I could change it over in a couple of minutes as it is just a few screws. However after phone calls to Samsung and repair outlets it became clear that no one would sell me the part. I had to send it in a pay quite a bit for just a few pence/cents of plastic.

But I suspect cameras are not made with harsh impact in mind. The reason for the plastic mounts are cost and weight (big deal, huh?) But as I said - the cheaper mount may have saved your camera in this instance. That's kind of ironic.
