It's still not 100% certain

Strictly speaking, all we have is a 3rd party "analyzing" the chip. There's always room for error in this type of thing. Short of finding Sony's name on the chip or a press conference from Nikon or Sony or both announcing the use of Sony chips in the D800, all you have still is - educated guessing.

Most of us assume that the chip is a Sony, file it away in the useless fact department of our minds and go about the business of shooting but the person most interested in this appears to be that little guy over at Sony Rumors. Of what value is this news (if indeed it is accurate) to Sony users if Sony's A99 is going to be a 24 MP camera?
