I own a Canon 5D MkII and a Canon S100 in addition to the Sony RX100. I have shot pictures where the RX100 has pulled more detail out of the center of the image than my 5D MkII. However, I would not suggest that the overall image quality is better with the RX100, but it's darn close if lighting is adequate.

I have been very impressed with the in-camera HDR capabilities of this camera... something my 5D can't do, and the S100 can't do well. It was mentioned in the review like this feature exists as it does on other cameras. However, take a look at the output of this feature. The in-camera software on the RX100 does a great job of lining the images up and the fast frame rate probably makes the software's job easier.

For those of us shooting outdoors in high-contrast scenes, the HDR feature is quite valuable and deserves more attention.
