E-510 conquers Pinhão (Douro Valley) - Portugal

We managed a few days´excursion in the tiny settlement of Pinhão nestled along the Douro river in Northern Portugal. This is Port country. What started as a local delicacy in ancient times, became a cottage industry during Roman and medieval times and then a global Industry by the late 1800´s. It is on the slopes of the Douro river valley that port grapes are cultivated, harvested and then transported further downstream for pressing, fermenting, barreling and ageing to produce vintage and reserve versions of ruby, tawny and white ports. Below are a few snapshots of the valley, the slopes, and of course, the fruit itself.

We noticed an unusual cloud formation - the pattern started off looking like dragon´s teeth, before morphing into what appears to be the continent of Africa - which then became South America!
