Re: NX100 and kit lens.

Apparently there's a timer on editing posts here.

As I was correcting to say.. given my technique, and the calculator (on reviewing the photo, I'm more inclined to say 6.5ft/2m since there was at most 1ft between our cars and at least 4ft for the hood.)

According to my DoF calculator, with a focus point 2m away at 2.75m everything should begin to 'blur'. In the photo you do some some noticeable blur yes. But nothing that is subject isolating from the buildings which are considerably further away (we're about two blocks away, parked at the far end of one block and those mark the beginning of the second). Yet they still look quite sharp and only a little bit of fuzziness can be found by the the car that is about 6m down the street from us.

Here's a second one, shot with a far closer focal point (and a shorter focal length too)

That's the kind of effect I wanted, but with the towers specifically.

Is the distance from my dash to the bumper so great as to make the hundred of meters+ to the towers that much of a difference?

Could you post a sample of that shot?

Done and done.

when i want a close subject to be as sharp as possible, i move my focus point so it is entirely over the chosen subject. if you did focus/recompose, maybe you got the wrong focus distance. it's easy to get dof effects with the aps-c sensor.

I centred the box on my screen on the rear bumper of the car in front of me, focus-locked to recompose where the lens was no longer angled down but straight ahead.
