Yes, you can use Kenko, but I wouldn't. They don't work well on slow aperture lenses. Poor focussing, poor IQ, slow max aperture.

I tried a Kenko 1.4x t.c. on a Nikon 70~300 VR and i wouldn't do it again. I would rather not use a t.c. on that lens; crop later if you need to. I do use t.c's, but not on slow variable aperture lenses.
