Re: Great Blue Herons with a Mirror Lens

Yes, the Oly 500 used with MFT seems to be very good in many ways. It has good sharpness, no visible color error, and no visible vignetting. The focussing helical is smooth and slow. The whole 1000mm equivalent fits, with camera attached, in a small Crumpler 2 Million Dollar bag. I do not, however, see it being used usefully handheld since its length makes it hard to even find the subject and hard to hold it steady enough, except with very high ISOs. Also exact focus is needed to get sharp results, and only luck can get you there while holding a nervously shaking camera. Well, perhaps machine gunning while focussing will get a few right on the money handheld - whatever works. That said, i don't have an Oly MFT camera and don't know how IBIS works with a 500mm lens.
