exposing for soccer

I am about 4 months into my 60D and among other things I shoot my teenager's soccer games. I have found that I am consistently feeling compelled to bump up the exposure compensation by 2/3rds of a stop, especially on bright days. So I'm sneering if this is typical or maybe my light meter is off. Anyone having similar experiences?
