Great Blue Herons with a Mirror Lens

Semiahmoo, WA. GX1 + LVF2 + Oly 500/8 mirror lens. This is a tripod only outfit. The LVF2 flip up viewer is the best thing going for a tripod mounted telephoto. It makes it much more comfortable to use. Extreme care in focussing is necessary, but with focus magnification in the GX1 it is practical. The Oly mirror seems to have a relatively muted donut bokeh - so far it hasn't been any sort of problem. If a lens of the quality of the Zuiko can be made in an AF MFT version it would be great. it would fit the general ethos of MFT better than any other conceivable telephoto of similar length. Better control of ISO, contrast, sharpening, and vignetting means that a mirror lens on a digital camera makes a lot more sense than it did on a film one.
