Not good, actually. If you are using the same physical AF sensor , the sensor dos not know that the camera is a crop one. It makes the same AF errors as if it were an FF camera.

Exactly. That's what I was getting at with my earlier post.

Depth of field calculators start with a circle of confusion. The size of this circle is smaller with smaller sensors because it is derived from the print size and viewing distance. The resolve the equivalent amount of detail, the focus sensor on a crop camera needs more resolution by the same ratio as the crop factor. But in practice, the same sensors are usually used.

The truth is, though, that larger sensors can resolve more detail. At some point, putting more resolution on the focus sensor doesn't buy you anything.
