IMO the A77 jpegs are mush. Worthless as far as I can see.

If you have the horsepower to process RAW then do so.

Even for paparazzi work where most shoot jpeg for speed, I haven't noticed a difference shooting burst RAW with a high speed card then processing from the RAW at the same rate as the jpeg.

LR3.6 does a much better job than the in-camera. Processing in the field is fine.

I've got a Dell M6600 with quadro 4000M, 32 gig RAM, Win 7. Pretty quick but even on a Q6600 with a GT520 and LR3.6 it's acceptable. Software engines far outperform the half-wit A77 jpeg engine.

Get a quad-core and forget the A77 jpeg. It's not the same .
