real field test for OMD against full frame DSLR

I just returned from a 3 weeks trip in Indian Kashmir.

I took 2 Canon dslr (50D + 5D classic) along with my newly acquired OM-D fiitted most of the time with a 14 mm pancake

The OM-D performed extremely well against the big boys

It was actually the preferred tool for low light photography, thanks to good high ISO performance and IS.

The difference between the DSLR and the Om-D was actually not in image quality.
Both are excellent (I am not a pixel peeper).
The biggest difference between the 2 systems are in ergonomics.

The DSLR give you a comfort in shooting that the OMD cannot approach. The quality of the viewfinder and the lay out of the controls on the DSLR make them a pleasure to use. With the OMD, I seemed to be always fumbling to find my controls.

In the end the m4/3 can become a little frustrating to use and can possibly lead to missed shots. I guess I have to get used to it.

Am I ready to ditch the DSLR, well no ! but I will think in downsizing my DSLR quiver in favor of the more portable and at least as capable m4/3.

Here are below some OM-D shots taken during the trip:
