I don't remember anyone making 1/1.7 BSI CMOS sensor. Either it's Samsung own sensor, totally different from EX1, or it will show up in other cameras too if it's made by Sony.

Sony is making one ... 12.4MP too to match the EX2 ... IMX144CQJ

That will likely make it have better high ISO than the much larger 1" sensor, as I think BSI is good for a couple f/stops.

From the spec at least 1 stop in ISO.

Plus it helps use large aperture wide angle lens more effectively (large cone illuminating the PD).

The benefit of using BSI diminishes as you enlarge the sensor size. That's why BSI tech hasn't been used in larger sensors ...

That's true so far but ...

BSI may still be a win on larger sensors as pixels get smaller (smaller pixels means more wiring compared to pixel PD area).

Plus the cost of bonding and thinning is rather more per sensor (and you get a lot of smaller sensors out out).

But as pixel density goes up BSI is a better idea on larger sensors. Expect to see it in type 1.0 inch next then type 4/3 inch.
