Re: Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 vs Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L II IS USM?

I was in the exact same situation. I went with the Canon f/4 IS which produced amazing pictures.

But now, after having it for a while i wish I had gone with the Canon 2.8 ii. School starts soon (inside sport, events..), winter is coming and I am afraid I will need the extra speed soon

I did consider the Sigma in the very beginning but went away from it after extensive (months) reading. I never tried it, but knowing there is something better out there would bug me all the time.

Beside, the Sigma will be harder to sell as the Canon - I learned that the hard way with my Tamron.

So, I'd say go with 2.8ii from Canon if you have the cash. If not, take the f/4 IS used and save another year, sell the f/4 and get the 2.8 ii.

Good luck
