At a bus stop?? I doubt it.

More likely the guy was insulted by the insinuation and as the accuser had dobbed and fled the scene without giving details of why she was suspicious (they didn't even take her name) and he was irate the cops would probably have held him on suspicion until they could find her. It isn't the first time. What's the law got to do with it?
