Yeah, those are great lenses. I would love to own an 80-200 F2.8. The 70-200 VRII is a great lens, I rented one a while back to shoot a ballet and loved it. For what I shoot though, the 80-200 F2.8 would serve my purpose just as well as the 70-200. It depends entirely on what you're going after, if your subjects demand the results the 70-200 produce, then go for it. As for the 35mm F1.8, as the other guys are saying, that lens vignettes like crazy on a D700. I posted a while back that I took a few shots with my wife's 35mm F1.8 which she uses on her D5100 and the results were nice, but I would never bother doing that again. I have a 35mm F1.4 ais which is quite nice. If you've got enough to shell out for the 70-200, you might want to consider the Zeiss 35mm F1.4, that's a fine 35mm and plays very nicely with the D700.
