No choice about letting it die off.

It's very expensive to manufacture and the market has practically disappeared.

The end product is impermanent, more so than digital (and I don't want to get into the hoo-haw about that).

And the current generation has little knowledge of it or familiarity with it.

I'm afraid it's gone, as has monks slowly inscribing literature of various kinds into parchment scrolls.
