What could I expect from an E-3 (over an E-520)?

Weather-proofing, rugged body, large viewfinder

The E-3 offers weather-proofing. That allows you to take it out in the rain. There are opportunities to shoot in rain or mist that might make you put the E-520 away. The E-3 is a very rugged camera. It weighs more too. That's not always an advantage but I don't really notice it. I've taken the E-3, and now the E-5, on some very rugged hikes and into dusty environments where an unsealed camera would choke. Around the beach I don't hesitate to get near the waves and spray.

The viewfinder is bigger. I waited for the E-3 to come out before I made a leap from the C-8080 to a DSLR because of it's larger viewfinder.

The other technical differences may be easy access button controls on the body. I'm not familiar with the sensor differences. The processor and write times may be different. Does it process higher res' images from the better HG and SHG lenses? I'm not familiar with those differences.
