Is this the beginning of an SDM failure?

SDM Failure And Credit Card Extended Warranty

Turns out that the symptoms my 16-50mm lens were showing were early signs of SDM failure as some of you thought and Pentax is in the process of fixing/replacing the motor.

But the good news is that, even though the failure occurred after the 1 year warranty, AMEX, the issuer of the credit card I used to buy the lens, is reimbursing me for the entire amount ($274) since purchasing with their card doubles the manufactures warranty. I believe that some (and maybe all) other credit card companies do the same thing, but AMEX was amazingly fast, helpful and easy to work with to get the claim filed, processed and paid.

Thought those of you unaware of this feature should keep it in mind when selecting a credit card and which credit card you use to purchase electronics.
