5D3 critical to exposure

I've noticed that the mk3 is a lot more critical to exposure than the mk2 with regards to noise in anything but the main exposed part of the image. For instance, a well exposed image with a person wearing a baseball cap can see a lot of noise in the shaded area of their face with the mk3 where as the mk2 seemed to cope better under those shooting conditions ( at IS) 200)

Any views?
