It seems at least in the US, the camera is actually completely replaced instead of just the rubber grips, then. Not sure that's the case over here in Europe; both Canon and the authorised repair explicitly stated that the camera will be "repaired". Could of course be just that they're keeping that as an option.

For those who got the camera replaced, did you officially register the camera in your name with Canon before you sent it in? I'm just thinking that that might have a negative impact on the chance that the camera will be completely replaced, as it could make it more difficult to resell the camera later on, if it's already "in the system" under someone else's name...

Anyway, not that critical, now off to try out the camera in Austria!
