OK. I will give you my thoughts. I do love the SX 40, but it takes work to get what you want. If you are in a hurry, good luck you will need it. But if you can get set, get focus lock and let the IS kick in, then you will probably get what you want. But I have discovered that I have to take several shots because a few just will not be where I want them to be.

Here is the key, the brighter the lighting the better chances you have. The photos that I postred of the Rainbow Lorikeets was up close with a flash. The flash highlited the colour.

But I have taken one shot of a pelican in flight and it came out great.

But, most take a little work.
