D800 AF and AF-s-, allows the shutter to fire while not in focus

Auto-focus set to AF-s- , AF-s(a2) set to focus , a4 activation -OFF, a5 set to off.

AF ON only, beep is set to indicate focus lock. Shutter will trip without focus being achieve, picture off, ------ use AF-ON, get focus and beep, good picture! You can the fire the shurrter (no beep)... No focus. Seems shutter can go no matter what settings you have. Except if you remove both cards

Has anyone else had this issue. Previous cameras D3, D2x, D5, D100, none of the would fire unless focus was ON.... Hope this is firmware bug..my serial number is
US. 3032xxx, got it new last Monday

Anybody but me?

Extreme L&R sensors are not cross sensor types
