600D: Eye Level versus Live View focussing on auto focus - what's going on?

suspected I was getting Back or Front focus problems with my Kiss x5 (600D),
I set up the camera on tripod and took shots of 3 different situations;

in each case auto focusing, first through the eye level view finder and then in live view mode.
Using the sharp Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro, both in TV and AV mode.

What I found really puzzled me, firstly there was an obvious image shift diagonally,

there were more discernible focus differences on the target chart, but in each case there were exposure differences.

Attached images are captioned for each situation plus a real situation studio shot from a couple of nights ago. Anyone shed any light on this, and how to test properly for back focus issues would be appreciated, cheers.

Imagine ...
