Tripod head won't fit my Gitzo–Work Around?
My old, trusty Gizto tripod has a rather short threaded stud on top for attaching the tripod head. I've had no problem putting Manfrotto tripod heads on it until yesterday. I needed to do a video shoot and rented a Manfrotto 701 head. Because the other heads worked I didn't think to check this one ... turns out that the threads on the 701 head are recessed a little bit (apparently a new design - my older heads don't have this recess), and the tripod's threaded stud isn't long enough to engage with them.
If you've encountered this problem and found a workaround I'd sure appreciate hearing about it. It may be that I need to buy a new tripod, but perhaps there's another fluid head out there that will fit?
Thanks for any help provided!
