a reasonable approach

I DQed some obvious images not even resembling Alpenglow, or even warm light. But I can't be 24/7 dedicated to this. I'm not being paid to be a challenge host. I see some nice images, maybe some sunsets that doesn't fit into the Alpenglow realm, but the voting will decide which is better.

That seems a reasonable approach to take. It is obvious from your challenge description that the key thing you're interested in is a "warm" quality to the light, and not adherence to a slavishly technical definition of "Alpenglow." As you say, each voter's interpretation/weighting of what Alpenglow means will be factored into the final results. I just appreciate your voluntary, unpaid effort, and that of all the other hosts, in making these just-for-fun challenges available for people to enter, view, and/or vote on.
