RX100: deleting multiple images (Arrgh...)

I have found the ergonomics of the RX100 to be generally excellent, with one glaring exceptiom: deleting multiple images. With other cameras I'm familiar with, this is a simple matter: press the Delete button, which gives you a choice of single or multiple deletion, select multiple, then select the photos you want deleted and press Delete again to confirm. With the RX100, the Delete button only works for a single image. For multiple images, here's the sequence:
1. Press Menu
2. Press the right rocker button 9 times to get to the Playback menu
3. Scroll down to Delete
4. Press Enter
5. Scroll to Multiple Images
6. Press Enter
7. Zoom out to display multiple images
8. Click on each image you want to delete
9. Press Menu
10. Scroll up to OK
11. Press Enter

Sony's aim seems to be to make the process of deleting multiple images deliberately difficult so that people won't do it accidentally--or maybe just haven't considered how annoying it is to follow this process.

Does anybody know of a shortcut to deleting multiple images?
