While I really like my Canon 50, I like my Sigma 50 even more. I’m pretty sure you’d be happy with either one, and I believe you might be over-analyzing.

I truly hope I am over-analyzing! I would rather get a lens that does what the manufacturer says it does and I can get on with my life!

I just got the Siggy 50 1.4 and it looks pretty bad at 1.4 to 2.8 ish...2.8 is pretty decent.

Once I take some more photos and decide that the Siggy is nt worth it, I will have to consider the EF 50 1.4. So your tip about keeping the focus at infinity will come in handy. I might also switch it to MF when not in use. Wouldn't want to hurt the poor little fake USM motor...

I hope Canon updates this lens in a hurry!
