Yep, Nikon changed this with the D800 (and D4 too I think). In prior models the aperture was latched when entering Live View and couldn't be changed without exiting/re-entering Live View. On the newer bodies the aperture is changed in real-time in Live View. They newer bodies also support both exposure preview and constant-brightness modes.
