fly-by-wire manual focus: good or bad?

Re: I don't like it

All of my lenses have direct manual focus (all are USM except the 80-200L which needs switching from AF to M to use it) but my video camera uses electronic focussing and it's not good at all. Ok, you can move the focus with your little finger if you want but there's a definite non-linear approach to the programming of the motor assembly.

Despite what most video purists say, I prefer AF on the video to MF. I can use my EOS lenses with an adapter but it doesn't allow AF but the IS and apertures work fine.
