Why no MIRROR LOCKUP?

Live view isn't a substitute for MLU....

....on the D90. It raises the mirror during the live view but quickly lowers and raises it again at shutter release. I'm guessing that the camera is trying to take an exposure measurement. It's been awhile since I've experimented with live view, but I haven't found a setting that allows you to work around the extra camera movements.
