The 12mm is probably too wide for use as a 'conventional' portrait lens - unless your subject is a fair distance from the lens your likely to get some distortion from the wide angle and will therefore not get blurred backgrounds. I don't own either lens but from what I've seen reported and from pictures I've seen posted, the 25mm would appear to be the better bet if you are looking at portraits. My 45mm is great for portraits, but that lens isn't on your shortlist...
