Olympus 14-54/2.8-3.5. 1/3 stop slower. 2mm less on the wide end. Equally sharp. Bigger range and better close-focus. 1/4 price. The 12-35/2.8 looks nice, but for what it is, the price does not.

I won't pretend to have any great familiarity with this lens, as my exposure to Panasonic and Olympus is all µ4/3 equipment. But, where can you find the Olympus 14-54 for 1/4 the price of the Panasonic 12-35 new?

BHPhoto has it for $599. While the Olympus may be a great value at half the price, it's not a native lens, and, for Panasonic shooters, it lacks IS.

I can't justify the Panasonic at its current price right now, but it's a lens I'd love to have eventually. By all accounts, it's an excellent standard zoom, regardless of the sensor format.
