LX7 CMOS Sensor Concern

Although I am one of those excited by the specs of the LX7 (and over my surprise that the sensor shrunk), I do have one concern and wonder whether other's share it. To my taste, which I know is not everyone's, the best images from compact cameras are from low-pixel-density CCD sensors. Admirably, the LX7 has kept pixel density down, but has switched to a CMOS sensor. (The LX3 and LX5 had CCD sensors and produced beautiful images.) I worry about that flat-digital look it produces, particularly between subjects and background when the subject is not near the lens; the sample images are not encouraging in this regard, but of course don't tell much of the story. Am I crazy? I hope so. (Apologies for making this point buried in another thread, without much response, and hope it deserves its own.)
