I agree...looking at the new IR extended preview I am pleasantly surprised to see the LX7 better or equal to the competition at low ISO and better that the smaller sensors at the higher. ...The issue with the Sony is not only is it not as wide as the LX (which is huge in my shooting) but when as you raise the ISO on the Sony, the JPEG engine smears detail in a classic Sony trick.

I totally agree. Exactly my thinking and my conclusion from IR. Alhough it is another type of camera but the new Sony HX20 got at best median not good rating here:

I had the HX9 and gave it back within one day - just unacceptable and the HX20 seems to be not better...Of course the RX100 is much better but I do see the smeared details as well at higher ISO.
