Importance of bright telephoto

I am FZ35 user.
I also own a D7000 with 70-300 VR from Nikon

When shooting birds, you venture out either early morning, or evening. Light is not the best during those times.

So in the D7000, I am able to use ISO 800-1000 comfortably. However, with FZ35, even ISO 400 is noisy.

A F2.8 lens will mean you can stick to ISO 200, and yet get acceptable handheld speed.

Another benefit is video shooting in low light.

Panasonic can go down to 1/30. At F2.8, ISO 400, you can actually get nice videos in city streets.

So F2.8 definitely has a lot of uses. Its great Panasonic has pulled this off. The LX7 with F1.4 is also amazing.

Imagine taking 30 sec 1.4 exposures to capture stars without trails.
