Re: Peru: Cuzco & Inca trail to Machu Picchu - 5DII

Thanks XFitter. I did use a polarizer and a 0.9 GND filter but I did not use a ND as I was not carrying a tripod.

I did try to use my hiking pole as a monopod but I wasnt too successful.

I had 3 reasons for not carrying a tripod

1. Weight - It would have been too much to carry for me on the trail. I also did not carry my 100-400 or macro and I think I missed the 100-400 more than the tripod. There are some really lovely birds in Peru.

2. Not allowed in Machu Picchu - I was a bit apprehensive about having to check it in, in hind sight i shouldn't have been worried as the storage facilites seemed pretty good.

3. Rest of the itinerary - The rest of my travel plan took me to places like Rio where a tripod would have attracted unnecessary attention.

I would recommend carrying a flash if you have one. This is really good for bouncing off tent walls. Also carry extra memory and battery. There is no longer a charging station at Winay Wayna.

Hope you have fun, the trail is one truly amazing experience.
