Hoya's otherwise very good HMC and SHMC coatings are notorious for being difficult to clean and tend to leave streaking/smudging. I don't know about Hoya's Pro-1 Digital coatings.

Hoya's latest HD coatings are different, and clean without streaking/smudging. The HD circular polarizer is also a thin, low-profile design but has front filter threads so the regular lens cap can be used. I have an HD circ. pol. and would highly recommend it.
