Re: GPS for Canon EOS Rebel T1i

Coincidentally, I just researched this yesterday, so I'll pass on what I found. (There may well be better software, in which case I hope people will make recommendations in further comments.)

To record GPS data, you want a program that can export GPX files. (Basically, just a file full of timestamps and location data generated from your GPS.) I installed Open GPS Tracker (free) on my Android phone: http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.sogeti.android.gpstracker&hl=en

Then you want a program that can take the GPX file and apply it to your pictures. (It looks at the time the picture was taken, and uses the location your GPS recorded for that time in the GPX file.)

Geosetter (free) http://www.geosetter.de/en/ can do that in bulk on both JPG and raw CR2 files. (By default, it renames your originals and saves a new copy with the data, though you can have it overwrite the originals if you trust it or have a backup.)

Geosetter uses another free program, ExifTool, as a helper application; it will prompt you to download it if you don't have it installed.

Since you're assigning locations based on timestamps, ideally you want your camera's clock to be synced with your phone's.
