The thing about Nano

I have been testing lenses on my D800E

I have found that whether I like a lens is based on colours, micro-contrast and that undefinable "pop". This has been unconnected to sharpness, for example, I didn't like the 50mm f1.8G, even though it was much sharper then I expected, even at f1.8 (this is IMHO so others may like this lens).

Note: sharpness is important to me, but the whole holistic "draw" of the lens is the key.

Co-incidently I have realised that all the lenses I like have Nano coating (including the 35mm f1.4G, which has no ED, for example. This has actually become my favourite lens).
Nano coating reduces flare and increases contrast, so makes sense.
It seems it is a pre-requisite for evey Nikon lens I buy now.

This might be really obvious and NN (Nikon Newbie) to loads of people.

Any comments would be interesting.
