Just the size of the object you used. If you were taking a picture of a person, you would have to be several feet further back to fit them in the frame. That's going to greatly reduce the background blur and increase DOF. So the only thing wrong with it is the fact that it isn't a good representation of what someone shooting a portrait would see.

I am not sure how this helps the OP. Macro bokeh is different than portrait bokeh. The OP asked how it compares to the LX5, but you only posted an RX100 image. Why didn't you post the same image with an LX5 so we can compare?
