I know what HDR is, but have never had the opportunity to use it - and I've never seen it used when moving objects are captured. Personally I wouldn't want this effect in a people shot, but I admit it's interesting and you've made an unusual photo.

And you're right with the comment about the potential of "simple" cameras - it all depends on what you want, what you can reasonably get, and using the tool's potential to obtain this. I use a Ricoh compact, and its capabilities combined with its pocket portability are a reasonable counterbalance to its small sensor IQ.
