If this is your first camera and if you can wait and save, I'd suggest waiting for a 70D and getting a 17-55 f/2.8 IS lens. The lens will cost close to the cost of the camera, but you won't regret that combination.

I waited until I had enough money for a 40D, the 17-55 f/2.8 and the 70-200 f/4 and when I started out, I was in heaven.

So I know I'm in the minority, but I'd wait and save a little more.

Totally agree with Mr John Vant Land. The 60D has 3 year old sensor tech. I'd personally I'd hold off a couple of months. In the interim, you could do some research into potential personal photography projects.
